02nd Jan 2025 – Happy New Year to All!
It is our great pleasure to share the news that today Jonny has broken into the last 100km of his 911km expedition to the South Pole, as he aims to become the first explorer with disability to go solo and unsupported! That means he is now counting down his distance in double rather than triple digits and his expedition timeline in single digits, in terms of days remaining, with a projected finish on Jan 6th all being well.
42 full days in, Jonny crossed the 89th degree (the final degree he will cross) yesterday. He is also now up on the final plateau (so no more ascent) with a straight run into the pole. The temperature has finally got properly cold (as attached picture illustrates), and he has had to breakout his SunGod ski googles for further protection.
Jonny is doing approximately 23km a day now, as he digs deep for the pole.
SRG is proud to be a key sponsor for Jonny as he attempts to become the first disabled person to trek solo and unsupported from the Antarctic coast to the South Pole. A true example of difficult done well!
