Background
Incorporated in 2021, One Claim Limited are a Third-Party Administrator servicing insurance claims. Based in Witham, the team look after all claims arising from an underwriting portfolio of over 50m. Key Role Purpose
To pro-actively handle a portfolio of motor claims including claims within the MOJ and OIC Portals, credit hire and damage only claims.
Key Tasks and Objectives
- Responsible for own caseload of low value personal injury, credit hire and damage only claims.
- Working under the supervision of the Claims Manager with own authority in accordance with set referral authority and criteria. Cases in excess of authority may be handled under referral to Claims Manager.
- Communicating via telephone (incoming and outbound calls) and written correspondence with policyholder, witnesses, Insurers, repairers, solicitors, engineers, third party representatives, medical experts, forensic accountants, rehabilitation providers, case managers, investigators, medical agencies, costs draughtsmen, CRU, and police authorities to bring about resolution of claims.
- To ensure each claim is dealt with in line with company/departmental procedure/philosophy and within service standards, through to the settlement stage.
- Claims data input as required using our internal claims system Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Interface with relevant claims units and departments within the company.
- Investigating liability where required, by telephone enquiries, accident report forms, instructing accident investigators, applying for police reports or any other necessary investigations.
- Making decisions on liability, admitting, disputing or negotiating split settlements.
- Negotiating settlement of claims within agreed authority limit or under referral.
- Making payments in respect repair accounts, hire accounts, agreed settlement figures in respect of Special and General damages, Claimant solicitors’ costs, own agents fees and own solicitors costs.
- Negotiating costs where allocated.
- Maintaining your portfolio by dealing with telephone calls, incoming correspondence and diary to ensure cases are handled proactively.
- Ensure external databases are maintained with accurate data and in accordance with department procedure.
- Reserving adequately on a prudent and realistic basis with references to case law.
- Instructing Panel Solicitors (in accordance with department procedures) where proceedings issued and liaising with the same to progress case to settlement or trial.
Key Technical Skills, Knowledge, Professional Qualifications Required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar claims handling role with at least 1 years’ experience with the MOJ / OIC Portal
- Experience of handling motor claims involving liability disputes.
- Accurate, reliable, with excellent attention to detail and an analytical approach.
- Understanding and experience of all regulatory issues an advantage (FSA, GDPR etc.).
- Production of high-quality written communication is essential.
Key Personal Skills Required
- Ability to organise workload, under pressure, whilst meeting tight deadlines.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, including Excel.
- Effective investigation and negotiation skills.
- Effective communication skills, written and verbal, demonstrated by experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and maintain solid working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Special Requirements
- There may be occasional travel to other offices, as and when required.
