Specialist Risk Group appoints Richard Gurney as Head of Specialty

London, UK – 7 January 2026 – Specialist Risk Group (SRG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Gurney as Head of Specialty, a newly created leadership role that will accelerate the build-out of SRG’s international specialty proposition.

Richard brings deep market experience spanning claims, global construction, and specialty placements, with a track record in designing and delivering complex, multi-territory programmes for international clients. His career began in claims before progressing into senior leadership roles across Global Construction and Claims. Richard spent 12.5 years at JLT in a range of specialty positions and 10 years at Marsh in global roles.

Richard will be responsible for deepening and internationalising SRG’s existing specialty offerings whilst identifying and investing in new areas where SRG can make a difference for clients.

His appointment follows the recent arrival of Neil Nimmo as UK CEO and Sasa Brcerevic as Chief Commercial Officer as SRG seek to build out its leadership bench strength for the next chapter of growth. He joins the Group Executive Committee.
