The Role

This is a Group level role supporting the Group IT infrastructure and Service Desk. We are a small but effective team who pride ourselves in our customer-service and “can-do” attitude. We work closely together to share knowledge and skills to be the best we can be.

Specialist Risk Group (SRG) have embarked on an exciting period of strategic growth which means our user base is growing quickly. This role will support that growth across the group and transformation of IT infrastructure.

This role is based in London but travel to other offices across the UK will be required. Colleagues across the Group are currently following the groups SMART working strategy and will be responsible for the team management, operational support, project assignments and day to day running of the Service Desk.

This is a new position ideally suited to someone looking for their first role within IT who wants to build on a career in IT within financial services. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate person that really enjoys IT, computing and problem solving. This position is a 1st line position managing our Service Desk support, triaging of incidents, and helping people in the business solving issues.

Key Responsibilities

Training, mentoring, and working under a senior member of staff to ensure you learn the support of systems, the business and team functions.

    • Manage the help desk function, responding to user requests and assist in support incidents
    • Perform scheduled maintenance and other tasks, often outside of normal business hours
    • Perform various duties in relation to the ongoing maintenance and stability of computing services
    • Work on documenting repeatable processes and maintaining the IT document site
    • Changing consumables such as toners within the business
    • Assist with ensuring computing services are operational and available to users at all times outside of regularly scheduled maintenance periods
    • Proactively explore new technologies and investigate how they may be utilised within the company
    • Provide basic deskside troubleshooting
    • Dealing with password issues, system issues and monitoring various systems activities
    • Performing computer and software installations
    • Potential work within a shift pattern to cover 07:30 – 17:30 operating window

About You

  • Demonstrated ability to address concerns of constituents, converting user requests into actionable solutions.
  • Broad, basic technical skills adaptable to a wide range of technology areas.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance industry is desirable but not required.
  • Good verbal and written communications and customer service.
  • Basic understanding of computing and networks, ideally from an IT background (training will be invested in this role).
  • Understands how to use Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for quality of output.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Great customer service
