Claims Handler – Stonehatch

Location: The role is based in our City of London office with 2 days (Monday and Friday) working remotely from home

About the Role

An exciting opportunity for the right candidate to build a long-term career in the bloodstock and livestock sector of the London insurance market in a claims handling position.  The role will include exposure to a global portfolio of clients with exposure to a wide variety of equine types and disciplines. The role would suit someone who is highly organised, motivated and possesses excellent communication and IT skills.  You will provide a broad range of administrative support, incorporating strategic thinking, always ensuring that a high level of customer service is maintained.  A strong interest in, and knowledge of, the bloodstock / equestrian / livestock world is essential.  Previous experience in a claims handling position is preferable.  This is a busy role that requires exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously.

  • Excellent communication (written, oral & presentation) skills & interpersonal skills essential, and an ability to deal with high-net-worth clients in a professional manner.
  • You will have a level of experience working with Microsoft systems, including Word and Excel, Google Suite of products and understand the importance of keeping documentation and systems up to date.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise, work to tight deadlines and perform under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven track record of delivering high levels of service.
  • Ability to represent Stonehatch & Specialist Risk Group with integrity and credibility.
  • Experience working with, and adhering to, processes and systems to support positive outcomes for our clients in a compliant manner.

Key Duties

  • Claim and Injury/Sickness advice and support to be given to clients in a timely manner by email, telephone and face to face / virtual
  • Notification of Claim and Injury/Sickness advise to be given to the claims department of Underwriters – Lloyds and Company London Markets promptly and accurately.
  • Involvement in all aspects of the claims processes ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements set out by internal policies / procedures and the FCA.
  • Negotiation and calculation of claim settlement amounts, the collection of same from the markets and the timely onward payment to the policy holder.
  • Accurate loading of reserves, interim advices and collections to ECF/Class system.
  • Liaising with Veterinary Specialists, Loss Adjusters, Policy Holders Veterinary Representatives and Legal Representatives where appropriate.
  • Complaint handling.
  • Full responsibility for processing of claim bordereaux each month and the accurate recoding of reserve numbers.
  • Process, collect and arrange settlement of all fees.
  • Review and update claim statistics.
  • Management of loss funds through the Vitesse system including the Faster Claims Process (FCP).
  • In addition to claims duties you will be involved in the creation of quotations, contracts of insurance and mid-term endorsements.
  • The broking of quotations / contracts of insurance to the relevant underwriting markets either in person or electronically including notification of claim or injury advices that occurred throughout the policy period.
  • Creation and sending of quotations and confirmations of cover to clients.
  • Taking responsibility for the renewal process on allocated accounts.
  • Managing the production and submission of monthly lineslip bordereaux for presentation to underwriting markets.
  • Managing the creation of statements of account for clients to ensure funds are received in a timely manner.
