Assistant Underwriter
Location: Flexibility between Home and Dublin Office
About the Role
TUE, a growing MGA in Dublin which specialises in Equine Insurance are seeking a full time Assistant Underwriter to join their Underwriting team in the Equine department.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities for this role are:
- Provides clerical and underwriting support to assist the team in managing new business, renewal of policies, mid-term alterations and assistance with debtor control and management.
- Provides prompt, courteous, and professional customer service to Brokers, Insurer partners and Third-party service providers.
- Assists in binding and issuing policies per Insurer guidelines and in line with regulatory requirements.
- Utilises underwriting system(s) to determine rating and prepare quotations for new and renewal business within internal and Insurer guidelines.
- Accurately reviews and files documentation for policies and process as needed.
- Provides other technical and clerical support as required by underwriting staff and management.
- Contribute to the team achieving excellence assisting to achieve the teams aims.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and collaboration across the team.
- Take ownership of your tasks, understand what is expected and be accountable for your work.
About you
- Previous insurance industry experience is essential (but does not need to be extensive).
- Liability insurance experience is desirable but not essential. This is an ideal opportunity to move from perhaps a Personal Lines background or from Broking to Underwriting.
- Capability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- The ability to work pro-actively and identify problems and work to find solutions.
- Excellent Communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently on computer systems and to learn new systems quickly.
- Must have some previous experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Must demonstrate teamwork and ability to develop productive relationships with peers and management.
- APA or CIP qualification or progress in this regard required.
